Hidden Places To See In Paris- Rue Cremieux

If you are looking for a hidden gem in Paris, Rue Cremieux is it!

Rue Cremieux is a quiet pedestrian street tucked away just off of bustling Rue de Lyon. This street is roughly a 15 minute walk from Bastille in the 12th Arrondisement. It’s easy to miss and only takes about 5 minutes to walk it’s whole length, but I classify it as one of my must sees in Paris.

The colorful cottage facades, make Rue Cremieux a breath of fresh air from the neutral beige and gray architecture of the rest of the city. It’s like stepping into a different Paris from the regular tourist spots.  No crowds to navigate through, just peace and beauty.  Hidden gems like this are what give Paris it’s enduring charm. Plus there is no better photo op than Rue Cremieux.  In fact if you hit it at the right time, you may just get to see a photo shoot taking place!

Strolling down the quiet alley, one can’t help but dream about what life is like for the residents behind those colorful walls.  If you want to get a better idea of just that, there is a quaint hotel offering several studio apartments on this street located at 15 Rue Cremieux called L’Hotel Particulier.

Part of the reason for going to Paris is to experience these hidden gems. A perfect trip to Paris has a mix of the big tourist sights like the Eiffel Tower and the lesser known places.  Places where you can photograph and years down the road go back and recall how you felt when you were there. Rue Cremieux is a place that will make you feel good.  Like you really experienced Paris.  And isn’t travel all about the experiences anyway?
