It’s Official! I’m A Blogger And I’m Going To WITS17!

I’m going to the Women In Travel Summit in Milwaukee!! Back in the beginning of the year I filled out my goal workbook.  One of the things I wanted to make happen was that I was able to attend a blogging conference so I could learn and connect with fellow bloggers.  It was a vision I had for myself in order to fulfill my goal of growing and making money off my blog. Fast forward to February when I won the ticket to the Women In Travel Summit in Milwaukee thanks to Midwest Travel Bloggers! The Women In…

Why I May Be Moving To A Retirement Home Before I Retire

To move or not to move, that is the question. Moving to our retirement home before we actually retire has become a real possibility.  Things have certainly changed in the last year. We went from 2 stable incomes to one of us retiring from a long utility construction career and one of us  loosing a 32 year job with no warning. All this brought us scrambling as to what to do next.  Luckily we have options and have slowly been weighing those options the last few months. You see the long term plan was for me to keep working for…

Winter Bucket List Item-Ice Castles Wisconsin Dells

I had been waiting patiently for the chance to see the Ice Castles in Wisconsin Dells.  When I read in December that Ice Castles were coming to Wisconsin for the first time I was pretty excited.  Truthfully I had never heard of it before, but it looked like a cool thing to do. All we needed was the Wisconsin weather to cooperate. The construction of the castles began in Mid December. Due to the warm temps around Christmas the opening was delayed until mid January.  Within a few days of opening, Wisconsin was due for a January thaw that closed…

Enjoying The First Snowfall Of Winter

We had our first measurable snowfall of the season yesterday.  I must confess, I’m not a big fan of our Wisconsin winters, but I do enjoy the beauty of fresh snowfall.  Waking up this morning to the sight of snow turning  the dull brown landscape into a sea of white made me smile full of gratitude at how lucky we are to experience all four seasons here. I was scheduled to go into work at 10 am for package delivery so I had some time to take a walk down the road to savior the…

Bastille Days Festival In Milwaukee And A Suprise From A Friend

Sometimes the best weekends come on the spur of the moment. Having no concrete plans for the weekend I spent my Saturday morning doing a couple of my favorite summer things. Strolling around the farmers market in Sheboygan and hitting some consignment shops.  First I made my rounds buying some veggies for the week. I don’t know what it is, but everything looks so yummy when you see it laid out on tables. Maybe it’s because someone else is doing all the hard work! The colors, smells, and the fact everything is locally grown is…

Wisconsin Destinations-Meeme Poll House

Sometimes the most interesting places are right around the corner.  We tend to overlook  places when we live right by them, but on a Thursday afternoon I was helping the hubby install an underground fence for a property next to this cute little building. Curiosity got the best of me and I asked the property owner about this place.  It turns out there is quite the history behind this little building which is on its way along with the former Sesslers Meeme House tavern to take a permanent residence at Pinecrest Historical Village west of Manitowoc Wisconsin. The tavern was…

Wisconsin Getaways-Cedarburg

Welcome to my summer series highlighting Wisconsin getaways.  In this series I will highlight some of my favorite places around Wisconsin that I love to visit.  Being a life long resident of this state, sometimes I need a gentle reminder that there is an abundance of things to do practically right in my backyard.  Summer is the perfect time to research and find things to do that are within a couple of hours drive of your home.  Even if you don’t live in Wisconsin, consider making this state a destination.  Wisconsin offers an abundance of things to do…

Walking For Organ Donation

Are you a registered organ donor?  I never really thought about the impact that orange dot can have on others lives until I heard my friend Erin’s story. My friend Erin had a liver transplant almost 26 years ago.  Being that she was a local news celebrity, I remember vaguely watching her story unfold in a public way as she lived out her health issues and her resulting transplant on the local news. It wasn’t until years later when I actually met Erin as she hosted the Paris trip I was on and heard her talking…
