Shopping Day In Paris

Paris and shopping go together and that is just a plain fact.  I first fell in love with Paris many years ago  simply because I loved fashion and Paris is the fashion capitol of the world.  That was my first reason for wanting to visit this city.  Seeing all those stylish French women in pictures in magazines and on TV made me long to be them.  If only someday I could visit Paris maybe some of that style would rub off on me. Well whether or not that has happened after two trips to Paris is debatable.  I try and…

How I Fell For The Charms Of A Montmartre Artist

No, there’s nothing unscrupulous about that title.  Anyone who has been to Paris and went to visit Sacre Coure and Montmartre know about the artists that wander around Place Du Tetre very willing to do your sketch for half price.  These are the charming men who will do your sketch in about 15 minutes while they flirt and flatter the ladies into believing that they are the most beautiful thing on earth and worthy enough to take a rightful place next to the Mona Lisa in the Louvre. So on day five of our Paris trip we we…

A Visit To The Eiffel Tower-Day 4

What is the one thing you have to do when you visit Paris?  A visit to the Eiffel Tower of course!  The only decision you have to make is to go to the top or not. I tried to purchase tickets for the summit before I left home the week before.  Mistake!  I took a chance and waited and paid the price by needing to stand in line to purchase those tickets at the site.  In the end it was okay.  Yes, we waited in line about an hour to get our tickets, but once we got them the wait…

Planning For Paris-Planning An Itinerary

My trip to Paris is less than a month and a half away and I have been busy making out a must see/do list. Studying maps, metro lines, checking out cafes near our rented apartment, and getting a packing list together. I always say half the fun of going on a trip is the planning. I’m at my happiest when I have a table full of maps and guides laid out in front of me. Plus, since I sprained my ankle late last week and am somewhat immobile, it’s a perfect time to really dig…

Yes You Can Travel! Even If You Are On A Budget

How many times has fear held you back from doing something you really want to do? Are you over 40 and realize that you want to take a vacation in a far off land (or maybe just the next state) and you don’t know how to go about it?    Fear can paralyze us into not living our dream lives.  Of course not everyone can act on every little whim we have, like quitting a less than fulfilling job when we have a family to support, but with careful planning we can take steps to make our dreams into…

Paris In Pictures

I am so excited for my trip back to Paris in September. I intend to take a ton of pictures and look for interesting places to write about and share with everyone! This time I will be staying in an apartment through Paris For Rent in the 6th. Follow along on all my social media channels to see Paris through my eyes! These were all taken on my last trip…

Wisconsin Getaways-Cedarburg

Welcome to my summer series highlighting Wisconsin getaways.  In this series I will highlight some of my favorite places around Wisconsin that I love to visit.  Being a life long resident of this state, sometimes I need a gentle reminder that there is an abundance of things to do practically right in my backyard.  Summer is the perfect time to research and find things to do that are within a couple of hours drive of your home.  Even if you don’t live in Wisconsin, consider making this state a destination.  Wisconsin offers an abundance of things to do…

New Orleans, Mardi Gras, and Beignets

Everyone must experience Mardi Gras at least once in their lives!  We spent two days in New Orleans the Thursday and Friday before Fat Tuesday.  Hubby and I were to set sail from there on the Saturday before and since we had never been to New Orleans, thought it would be fun to spend a couple of days checking out all the Mardi Gras festivities beforehand. The first must do was chicory coffee and beignets at Cafe Du Monde.  Then Thursday night we found a spot on St. Charles Street to catch our first parades.  It was a cold night…
