Setting Goals For 2017

Saying goodbye to 2016 did not break my heart in the least.  There were good things about last year, but all in all I was ready to start fresh with a new set of goals for 2017.

I have typically made new years resolutions in the past, mostly to lose weight and get in shape, but I decided to approach 2017 a new way.  More organized with concrete goals both professionally and personally.  With this in mind, I did some research and came across Leonie Dawson’s Workbook Planners.  I decided to order the Life and Biz bundle and give them a try.  Besides being oh-so-cute and colorful, the workbooks and daily planner are a great tool to map out your goals and how to achieve them.  Yes, it takes some time and thought, but they really got me to focus on what I want to accomplish in the coming year.

Leonie Dawson Shining New Year Workbooks fresh out of the package!

I spent quite a few hours working on my Life workbook and and i have to say it really helped to write everything down.  The sections helped me to see what is really important to me and in turn I could come up with 3 main goals and what I need to do to accomplish them.  It not only helped plan those goals, but you were to write down a list of 100 things you want to do this year.  I found this to be the hardest part!  In fact I only have about half filled out and I thought I would add on as the year progressed.

In the end I came up with 3 major goals for myself.

  • Grow my blog to reach 1000 readers (this may not seem like much to the huge blogger, but it is monumental for me)
  • Find my purpose/passion by trying different things
  • Last but not least-the dreaded lose 20 pounds

All achievable goals for myself.  All require hard work and dedication.

You really don’t need to have a set of pretty workbooks to help map out goals.  There are a ton of resources out there to help you. In fact just search Bullet Journal on Pinterest and you will get thousands of pins dedicated to making your own.  Or it can be as simple as just buying a notebook and write down the things you want to accomplish in 2017 and break it down in to small bite sized goals.  Journal every morning the tasks you want to complete and just check them off.  The main thing is to WRITE down your goals somewhere where you can see them and evaluate weekly.

In the coming weeks I will be sharing my progress on my goals and also my list of 100 things to do this year.  Right now a couple of things on my list are:

  • Hike the northern Wisconsin waterfalls tour
  • Make great use of my new kayak
  • Go see the Ice Castles at Wisconsin Dells
  • Camp at least once this summer
  • Declutter/downsize our stuff

What would be on your list of 100 things to do this year?  Make it fun!  This is your list to create.  If you want to get a pedicure every week, write it down!  How about read 100 books? Or even one special book you have been dying to read. Maybe you want to contact a long lost friend. When you have a good start on your list, schedule some things in and work toward making 2017 the best year yet.

Lets get started and welcome 2017!

xxoo
