Tomorrow is April 7, 2016 which means 5 years ago i got in a plane in Green Bay, Wisconsin to embark on my first trip to Paris. Thinking about it now, it seems a like a long time ago. Much has happened in the 5 years since that trip. I took a management position at my company, my daughter has gone from being a shy 8th grader into a senior in high school that has made her parents more proud than they ever imagined, my husband retired from his construction job and has built 2 successful home-based businesses.
I always say that trip to Paris changed my life in more ways than I ever imagined. Not only did it make me even more in love with Paris than I already was, but I gained the confidence to keep going for things that I wanted in life. Being with a group but by myself was a blessing since I was more inclined to be open to sharing the adventure with newly made friends I met. This ended up being the best thing that happened to me. I made some great friends in Paris in my fellow travelers that 5 years later I consider a few of them like a part of my family.
From the minute that plane touched down at Charles de Gaulle I was mesmerized. I kept having to pinch myself as the bus headed into Paris. Seeing the Eiffel Tower in person for the first time took my breath away. It seemed around every corner was another charming street to discover. And do not get me started on the food!!
5 years ago started an ongoing love affair with a city that feels like home even though I have only been there once. The best thing is that in 5 months I will be there again! Plane tickets are bought and the apartment is rented thanks to Paris For Rent.
So Happy Anniversary Paris!! We shall be reunited soon. I am forever grateful to you for setting me free to be my true self, and giving me some great people in my life!
