Sometimes a person is taken aback when an unexpected thing happens. Such is the case with this beautiful early 1900’s sewing machine.
One Saturday my Dad had surprised me with a phone call and a request to stop over at my parents house. I did later that day. He took me down to the basement saying he had something to show me. What I saw was an old foot pedal sewing machine that need a little tender loving care. He told me the actual machine is in great shape and asked me if he refinished and fixed it if I would like it.
At Christmas time I had admired another sewing machine he had found in the shed and refinished and found new life in my parents living room as a table.
Apparently there was another one in the shed, this one in good shape and once the leather belt was replaced would be perfectly useable (I am not much of a sewer).
Of course I said yes, I want it.
I did some research and found my machine was sold at Sears in the early 1900’s.
So last weekend we went to pick it up after the couple of months it took for my Dad to refinish it. I had rearranged the furniture in our living room to make room for it.
