Nighttime View From The Top Of The Eiffel Tower

If you can go to the top of the Eiffel Tower at night do it!  I know some people say that the view from the second level is the best, but this just took my breath away!  In September I will be back to see you La Tour Eiffel…

Wisconsin Getaways-Cedarburg

Welcome to my summer series highlighting Wisconsin getaways.  In this series I will highlight some of my favorite places around Wisconsin that I love to visit.  Being a life long resident of this state, sometimes I need a gentle reminder that there is an abundance of things to do practically right in my backyard.  Summer is the perfect time to research and find things to do that are within a couple of hours drive of your home.  Even if you don’t live in Wisconsin, consider making this state a destination.  Wisconsin offers an abundance of things to do…

My Dream U2 Weekend In Chicago

This was a post I wrote last June after I had the best weekend of my life while seeing my favorite band U2 in  Chicago…   Did you ever think about how you would react if you ever came face to face with the person or persons you have admired for so long? This first U2 concert I went to was during  the Zoo TV tour. I was transformed that night by the spectacle of this multi media show. I really liked the music before, but seeing Bono work the audience that night was mind blowing. Think what you…

Walking For Organ Donation

Are you a registered organ donor?  I never really thought about the impact that orange dot can have on others lives until I heard my friend Erin’s story. My friend Erin had a liver transplant almost 26 years ago.  Being that she was a local news celebrity, I remember vaguely watching her story unfold in a public way as she lived out her health issues and her resulting transplant on the local news. It wasn’t until years later when I actually met Erin as she hosted the Paris trip I was on and heard her talking…

My Top 5 Things To Do In Chicago

I love Chicago!  There’s tons of stuff to do and see, It’s easily accessible to me,  and mostly I feel like a different person when I’m there.  Something about the big city appeals to me.  I guess it’s the fast pace of life and the fact that I can strap on my most comfy shoes and walk all over the center of the city. After all the best way to explore a city is on foot. So for any of you that have never been to the Windy City and…

New Orleans, Mardi Gras, and Beignets

Everyone must experience Mardi Gras at least once in their lives!  We spent two days in New Orleans the Thursday and Friday before Fat Tuesday.  Hubby and I were to set sail from there on the Saturday before and since we had never been to New Orleans, thought it would be fun to spend a couple of days checking out all the Mardi Gras festivities beforehand. The first must do was chicory coffee and beignets at Cafe Du Monde.  Then Thursday night we found a spot on St. Charles Street to catch our first parades.  It was a cold night…

Ice Sculptures Everywhere! Carvers Invade My Small Town

Yesterday the Main Street of our small town of Kiel, Wisconsin was hopping. Every year on a cold Saturday in February the locals try out their talents making blocks of ice into artful creations. It’s a big hit here in our small town. Late in the afternoon when all the carving is done you can find people bundled up walking up and down Main Street checking out the sculptures. Some you can easily see what they are meant to be-others, well let’s just say it’s fun to guess! The carvers vary in age…
