5 Ways To Conquer Post Vacation Blues

We’ve all been there.  You spend weeks planning a much needed vacation to your dream destination and in the blink of an eye, it’s over.  The post vacation blues set in.  Post travel depression is a very real thing compounded if you are returning to a mediocre job or any other less than perfect things going on in your life. While we travel, we are often our best versions of ourselves.  We are happy, relaxed, (this can be debated depending on what you are doing and where you are) and away from the mundane tasks of…

The Women In Travel Summit WITS Was A Game Changer

I am officially dealing with a WITS hangover! For the most part, us bloggers have kind of a lonely life.  What I mean by that is that you spend a huge chunk of your time sitting in front of your computer and stare at a screen. Sure, you engage on social media but there is little face to face contact with your tribe- those fellow bloggers that seem to be the only people who truly understand your work. We all have family members and friends who are clueless about what we are doing.  They ask “what is this blog…

It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Spring!!!

Welcome Spring!! (It’s about time you show up!!) It was a perfect day for delivering mail today.  After the gray, cool temps, and on and off rain of the last few days, it was a welcomed change to see the sun shining today.  It made driving the mail route pleasant.  Another thing I noticed was the color green beginning to add a bit of color to the brown and dull landscape.  Yes, the grass is beginning to come alive! It won’t be long and the leaves cover the trees and the spring flowers will start blooming…

Traveling On The Path To Self-Discovery

Imagine you are thousands of miles from home in a place you have never been before and yet you feel oddly settled, like you have been there many times before.  It’s a feeling so strong that it knocks the wind out of you for a few moments. This is just what I experienced the first time I went to Paris. It may sound corny, but I always tell people that I had to go to Paris to find myself.  From the time I entered the city on that bus I felt at home.  Like I BELONGED there.  I…

It’s Spring Break! I Can’t Believe The First Year Of College Is Almost Over

Tomorrow I will be picking up Megan to bring her home for Spring break from her first year of college at UW-Whitewater.  Where in the world is this year going?  It doesn’t seem so long ago since we tearfully moved her into her dorm back in September. I cannot tell you how much I am looking forward to that 2 1/2 hours in the car,  just her and I.  At Christmas break I barely saw her.  Either I was so busy working, or she was off hanging around with her friends.  We really haven’t…

It’s Official! I’m A Blogger And I’m Going To WITS17!

I’m going to the Women In Travel Summit in Milwaukee!! Back in the beginning of the year I filled out my goal workbook.  One of the things I wanted to make happen was that I was able to attend a blogging conference so I could learn and connect with fellow bloggers.  It was a vision I had for myself in order to fulfill my goal of growing and making money off my blog. Fast forward to February when I won the ticket to the Women In Travel Summit in Milwaukee thanks to Midwest Travel Bloggers! The Women In…

Why I May Be Moving To A Retirement Home Before I Retire

To move or not to move, that is the question. Moving to our retirement home before we actually retire has become a real possibility.  Things have certainly changed in the last year. We went from 2 stable incomes to one of us retiring from a long utility construction career and one of us  loosing a 32 year job with no warning. All this brought us scrambling as to what to do next.  Luckily we have options and have slowly been weighing those options the last few months. You see the long term plan was for me to keep working for…

Setting Goals For 2017

Saying goodbye to 2016 did not break my heart in the least.  There were good things about last year, but all in all I was ready to start fresh with a new set of goals for 2017. I have typically made new years resolutions in the past, mostly to lose weight and get in shape, but I decided to approach 2017 a new way.  More organized with concrete goals both professionally and personally.  With this in mind, I did some research and came across Leonie Dawson’s Workbook Planners.  I decided to order the Life and Biz bundle and…

Purging My Book Stash

One of the hardest things for me to do is to go through and downsize my book collection.  I love having books around. The smell, colors, and access to all those printed words make me giddy with joy. One of my goals in 2017 is to downsize and simplify my life. I got a burst of energy today when I got home from work and decided to tackle this one job. Now mind you, I do not have a large collection of books by any means. Not like my daughter who has 3 floor to ceiling bookshelves full! I like…

My (Almost) All Shopping Online Christmas

How much shopping online do you do for Christmas? I’m approaching Christmas gift buying totally different this year.  The last couple of years I have slowly moved from actually hitting the stores for all my gift buying to buying online.  This year I intend to do 99% of my gift buying online.  There are only a few gifts I purchased in person, a few from my artist friend Shannon who does beautiful paintings, and a couple of books from a local bookstore. This was the first year I didn’t hit the stores on Black Friday. Did…
