Time To Yourself Is A Good Thing

What would you do if you had 2 days to yourself? The  hubby and daughter left early Saturday morning for an overnight trip to the western part of Wisconsin where they have a hunting shack on land they lease from a farmer. What does this mean for me? Time to myself at home with absolutely no plans to go anywhere (on purpose) except to run and buy supplies for my weekend project and take the dog for a couple long walks. Now, I love my family with all my heart, but I thoroughly enjoy having time to myself too.  There…

Walking For Organ Donation

Are you a registered organ donor?  I never really thought about the impact that orange dot can have on others lives until I heard my friend Erin’s story. My friend Erin had a liver transplant almost 26 years ago.  Being that she was a local news celebrity, I remember vaguely watching her story unfold in a public way as she lived out her health issues and her resulting transplant on the local news. It wasn’t until years later when I actually met Erin as she hosted the Paris trip I was on and heard her talking…

Can It Please Be Spring Already?

Even Zoe can’t believe that it’s is snowing out….again! I’m usually a glass half full kinda girl, but today I AM SICK OF WINTER!!! I know that I live in Wisconsin, but seriously I should not have to wear a winter jacket anymore. For goodness sakes it is April 8th. It should be 50 degrees out. Instead it is like the 20th day in a row of snow mixed with sleet, mixed with freezing rain. Ok, I may or may not be exaggerating on that! I don’t think there is…

Thinking about it now, it seems a like a long time ago.  Much has happened in the 5 years since that trip.  I took a management position at my company, my daughter has gone from being a shy 8th grader into a senior in high school that has made her parents more proud than they ever imagined, my husband retired from his construction job and has built 2 successful home-based businesses. I…

Facing An Empty Nest Is Bittersweet

This is a year full of changes for our family.  The biggest change is to see our  daughter’s last year of High School end and sending her off to college in the fall.  When your children are babies and you are waking up for 2 am feedings it seems like the time that they go out on their own is in the very distant future. Let me just say that time goes very fast and before you know it you will be through the first day of school, through the adolescent years, and finally seeing them off to…
