15 Days Paris Here We Come!!

Paris, here we come!

Fifteen days till our plane leaves the runway in Green Bay bound for Paris, France!  I am so excited and nervous at the same time.  Researching and planning is in full swing.  It seems like just yesterday that I booked our cute little apartment in the heart of Paris through Paris For Rent.  I cannot say enough good things about our experience so far with this rental agency.  Every question and concern I have had has been answered and then some!  That includes gluten free dining suggestions around the city. Patrick has been a life saver helping to book our transportation from CDG airport to the apartment. We didn’t want to deal with the added stress of dealing with luggage and boarding the train or bus into the city.  Sure it’s a little extra money, but well worth it in my book.

Great apps for getting around

I downloaded some must have apps for getting around Paris onto my IPhone since actually pulling out an actual paper map is so 2009 (confession, I will probably be using those paper maps too!) Apps are nice because you really don’t want to call out a whole lot of attention to yourself that screams tourist.

navigation GPS Apps

  • RATP-This official public transportation app will help you navigate your way by Metro or Night Bus.  Plug in a starting point and a destination and the app tells you which lines to take.  Works off-line too. Just make sure you have downloaded the map beforehand.
  • Sidekix-This app serves multiple cities. Paris is after all  a fully walk-able city.  The whole reason we choose to stay in the center was so we could just roam the streets.  This app is all about navigating a city by foot. I have a feeling this one will get a ton of usage. Sidekix will find things to do in your area within walking distance too.
  • Paris Travel Guide and Offline City Map-This app I used to pin specific places that I searched for. You can save destinations according to lists with different colored stars for each list. For instance, I saved several gluten free eating places so we had quick access to them.  The app can be used offline so there is no need to use any roaming or data.  Just find where you want to go and you can get walking directions.

With these 3 apps wee should have no trouble getting around but hey, if we get a little lost….who cares!  What are your favorite apps you use to get around?  There are so many out there it’s hard to choose.  This is where the trusty paper map comes in.  When all else fails!
